Kenya's Evans Kavisi Geared Up for a Comeback in 2025 WRC Safari Rally Naivasha

Evans Kavisi Set for 2025 WRC Safari Rally Return
After stepping out of the spotlight last year, Kenyan rally driver Evans Kavisi is revving up for a triumphant return to the 2025 WRC Safari Rally in Naivasha. The rally, which runs from March 20 to 23, is a crucial platform for Kavisi, who is eager to address the mechanical hiccups that led to his early exit back in 2023. This time, he's coming in strong with his trusted co-driver, Absalom Aswani, by his side.
Kavisi's vehicle, the Mitsubishi Evo X, has undergone significant enhancements. From the bodywork to the engine, the car has seen a complete overhaul, ensuring it's fit for the tough conditions synonymous with the Safari Rally. Rigorous testing sessions have taken place, giving Kavisi the confidence that this rebuild will propel him to the finish line.

The Challenge Ahead
Competing in the Group N category, Kavisi's goals are twofold: first, to finish the intense course known for its harsh terrains and second, to elevate Kenya's standing in this prestigious event. Since the Rally's reintroduction in 2021, Kavisi's participation has been steadfast, and despite past setbacks, his determination remains unshaken.
This year's event will feature a roster of elite rally drivers, including reigning champion Kalle Rovanperä along with Elfyn Evans, Thierry Neuville, Ott Tanak, and Takamoto Katsuta. Such competition adds to the high stakes, putting every participant's skills and endurance to the test.
The rally's commencement will be marked by President William Ruto, who will flag off the event at Nairobi's iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). Following this, the drivers will navigate stages distributed across various challenging locations, including Kasarani, Cam Moran, and the famous Hell’s Gate, to name a few.
The excitement and anticipation are palpable as the event promises to deliver thrilling motorsport action, with Kavisi aiming to make a mark not just for himself but for the country. The prize-giving ceremony will culminate the rally, with President Ruto set to grace the occasion, highlighting the importance of the WRC Safari Rally in Kenya’s sports calendar.
